The team

  • Miel

    Miel

    (they/them)

    rigger, rope teacher, performance artist

Tying since 2019, Miel has a sadistic, teasing streak and a love for beautiful rope that anchors both partners to the present moment. Miel brings 15 years of teaching and performance experience to their practice and takes immense pride in helping students of all levels find pleasure, cartharsis, empowerment and deeper connection through rope. When not teaching, you can find Miel performing onstage, spotting the community jams and organising our international artist collaborations.

  • Pitaya

    Pitaya

    (they/she)

    model, switch, teacher, performer, illustrator

Pitaya has practiced shibari since 2020. For them, connection with another person in rope is something unique, offering a different kind of intimacy. Semenawa and torment are at the heart of their practice, with a particular affinity for suspensions, hair ties, and waist lines. As an illustrator, aesthetics are especially important to them. However, they also love a good struggle and more chaotic rope when they tie! Pitaya performs regularly as a model and handles graphic design at Asobi.

  • Tessy

    Tessy

    (she/her)

    artist, event organiser, rope fan

Tessy is an artist based in Lyon, France. Her work is colourful, expressive, and often joyful, with queer love and fat-positivity taking centre stage. Tessy's first exposure to shibari was at a performance of Miel's in 2023, which inspired her to draw and paint rope sessions and sparked a beautiful long-term collaboration. At Asobi, she runs monthly life-drawing sessions, handles graphic design and creates our beautiful art prints and stickers.
