Silly Hands Shibari Studio, founded in 2023 by Amiya, is India’s first queer-owned and operated Shibari studio in Mumbai.
We host beginner-friendly workshops, private sessions and rope jams with venue partners across various cities in India.
Our goal is to make shibari-educational space and encourage practice led by collaboration, connecting and a little bit of silliness :)
The team
Amiya Bhanushali

Amiya Bhanushali (they/them) is a queer multidisciplinary artist and curator. As an extension of their work, they started learning Shibari in 2022. Their practice focuses on human connection, technique and self-exploration. Although shy, Amiya would describe themselves as sadist waiting for perfect opportunity to shine. They are a patient, empathetic teacher and encourage peer-to-peer learning.
